Scorebook Live names Ben Sherman as editor and vice president of content

Ben Sherman, a veteran journalist and digital pioneer who was with The Oregonian/OregonLive for 17 years, was named editor-in-chief and vice president of content at Scorebook Live on Monday.
Sherman, 44, will guide all content operations at Scorebook Live and its recently launched website focused on Washington high school sports. He has served in senior leadership roles at The Oregonian/OregonLive since 2006 and was instrumental in transforming The Oregonian’s newsroom into a digital-first organization.
“Scorebook Live made a big hire with the addition of Ben Sherman,” said Scorebook Live CEO Dan Beach. “Delivering timely and relevant digital content across the high school sports market takes the type of experience, knowledge and leadership that Ben brings to our company. His groundbreaking work at OregonLive.com, passion for high school sports and vision for the future will pay immediate benefits to the coaches, players and fans.”
The Oregonian/OregonLive received numerous national awards for its sports coverage during Sherman’s tenure. In 2017 The Oregonian/OregonLive placed in the Top 10 in four categories of the Associated Press Sports Editors writing competition -- the most by the sports staff since the awards started more than 40 years ago.
“I am grateful for my time at OregonLive, and I am thrilled to be joining the Scorebook Live team,” said Sherman. “Dan Beach has an incredible vision for this company. High school sports bring communities together in extraordinary ways, and the audience has never been bigger.”
